About the teacher
Benjamin Phillips has been playing music for 30 years and teaching music lessons for 20 years, and is proficient in Classical, Contemporary, Gospel, Southern Gospel, Band, Pop, R&B and all the Latin grooves. He has a passion for music and plays piano, organ, bass and drums regularly in the band at Atlanta West Pentecostal Church. He loves to teach music and teaches almost every instrument to students aged 4 - Adult. Many of his students have attained a high level of artistry for their instrument, with some playing in the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra while others have become church music directors.
Students may choose from two different teaching styles or methods.
The first is called "Traditional." With this classical method, basics of music theory and sheet music are taught with a traditional book. (This is the most common method, and what most people think of when picturing music lessons.)
The second is the "Pop","Church" or improvisation method. With this method students receive music theory, ear training and instruction so that they can play their instrument in
a band, in church or with a jazz style. This method usually applies to older students and should be discussed before beginning.
